Sandman Illusions

Sandman Illusions

My mind's awake as my body sleeps;
All over, I'm paralyzed as my soul weeps.
The thought of escaping is very large,
But, unfortunately, I am not in charge.

I lie there shaking what cannot be shook;
My mind is as wide open as a book.
My system takes advantage of my rest,
Putting all my thoughts to the ultimate test....

Taking in all I've imagined that day
And twisting it in horrible, frightening ways.
My only relief is to awaken,
But even that moment has been taken.

For when my slumber begins to slip
I'm still not released from sleep's relentless grip.
