Poem: An Angel's Wish

An Angel's Wish

Once I heard an angel cry,
But I really did not know why.

My only hope was her revealing
What exactly she was feeling.

I wished to comfort her, oh so dearly,
But I failed so very clearly.

How exactly was I to know
Something that she would not show?

So I asked for one simple clue.
What she told me was so very true.

I was so stunned by her words.
I was not sure I had rightfully heard.

She expressed to me her deepest thoughts.
A reply from me is what she sought.

I held my breath and closed my eyes,
And then I finally realized

I was a perfect example of her misery.
A pair of wings would I ever see?

She yearned to see others join her up above,
But no one seemed willing to give God their love.

Right then and there I bowed my head.
“Forgive me, Dear Lord,” were the words that I said.
